We wanted to share one of our newer articles with you for some pleasure reading! Written by Helen Zhu, Food For Thought talks about slelective breeding with fruit and how they have changed over the years! 
In the 1940s, plant breeders began to modify the traits of their crops through mutagenesis, a process shown on the second slide. Increasing the frequency of mutations raises the chance of a "helpful mutation occurring, like one that would show an increase in the quality of the crop. 

As great as it may seem, several consequences arise from crop modification, such as conflict between farmers and corporations about patenting living organisms.
